ACADEMIC MATTERS

Foundation Phase
Grade R
Boston has one Grade R class that can accommodate a maximum of 30 learners per year. The demand to Grade R placement is very high with Boston receiving in excess of 300 applications for 30 places. The Grade R class has a qualified teacher as well as a teacher assistant. The Grade R classroom is located on the upper campus where our sports field and Aftercare facilities are located. The hours of operation are from 07:45 to 12:30 daily. The School does offer an early care service from 07:00 to 07:45. This service is charged separately.

Grade 1 to Grade 3
The School has three classes for each grade with an average class size of 30 learners. All classes are fully equipped for E-Learning with teachers using data projectors, laptops and the internet to enhance the learning experience of our pupils. Classes start at 07:50 and end at 13:30 (Monday to Thursday) and at 12:30 on Fridays.
Swimming: Learners from Grade 1 to 3 have swimming lesson once a week during their Physical Education lessons in summer. These lessons are conducted by professional coaches and is included in the School fees.
Mini – Cricket, mini-netball and mini – tennis is offered to Grade 2 learners during Summer and mini-soccer and netball offered during Winter. The Sport and Culture Programme runs from 13:30 to 14:30 for Grade Two pupils.

Intermediate and Senior Phase (Intersen)
The School has three classes for each grade with an average class size of 30 learners. All classes are fully equipped for E-Learning with teachers using data projectors, laptops and the internet to enhance the learning experience of our pupils. Learners use personal devices in the classrooms under the supervision and instruction of their subject teachers. Classes start at 07:50 and end at 14:30 (Monday to Thursday) and at 12:30 on Fridays. The Sport and Culture Programme runs from 14:30 to 15:30. All learners are encouraged to select four days of sport and culture activities.
The School offers subject teaching from Grade 4 to 7 with appropriately qualified teachers teaching each subject.

Specialist Teachers
The School has specialist teachers for Music, Art, Computer studies, Library and Physical Education. The quality of instruction in these subjects are of a very high standard which enable our pupils to participate in Eisteddfods and other competitions.
